Sanding is serious work and not reversible
Sanding removes a thin layer of oxidized gelcoat to reach healthy material underneath. Done correctly, it transforms the boat. Done badly, it can burn through gelcoat and require gelcoat repair. This is not a DIY job unless you are experienced.
