Buff & Shine for Boats , Tampa Bay’s Most Popular Boat Detailing Service

What Buff & Shine Does for Your Boat
Most boats in Florida do not need a full sand-and-restore. They need a real buff and polish to cut through the dull, chalky gelcoat and bring back the shine. That is exactly what Buff & Shine does. We use professional Starke marine compound and polish, paired with the right pads for your boat’s condition, then finish with a sealant for protection.
What’s Included
- Full wash and decontamination
- Machine buff with marine-grade compound and polish
- Sealant application to lock in the shine
- Vinyl seat clean and conditioner
- Compartment wipe-down
- Final detail wipe and inspection
Buff & Shine vs. Full Restoration
Full Restoration ($250/ft) is wet-sanding and is the right call for boats with heavy oxidation that you can scrape with a fingernail, or hulls that are fully chalked. The vast majority of boats , even ones that look pretty rough , only need a Buff & Shine. We will tell you straight which one yours needs before we quote you. We do not upsell.
Topside Only , $50/ft
If your hull is in good shape and you only need the topsides done (above the waterline), we offer Buff & Shine Topside Only at $50/ft. This is a great middle-ground for boats that get washed regularly but have lost some gloss on the cap and decks.
Add Ceramic Coating for Long-Term Protection
The single best add-on after a Buff & Shine is our marine ceramic coating. It locks in the gloss for 2+ years and makes the boat dramatically easier to wash and maintain. Hydrophobic, UV-resistant, and built specifically for marine use. Backed by a 2-year warranty.

What Is Buff and Shine for Boats?
Buff and Shine is a professional compound and polish service designed for boats with light to moderate oxidation, UV fading, or dull gel coat. Unlike a basic deep cleaning that only cleans the surface, Buff and Shine uses machine compounding to cut through the oxidized layer and restore the original depth and gloss of your gel coat. We then follow up with a fine polish and protective sealant that guards against future UV damage and salt exposure.
This is the service we recommend for the majority of boats in Tampa Bay. Unless your hull is severely oxidized with rough, chalky texture (in which case our Full Restoration with wet sanding is the right call), Buff and Shine delivers the best combination of results, turnaround time, and value.
How Buff and Shine Works
Every Buff and Shine job starts with a thorough wash and decontamination to remove salt, dirt, and surface contaminants. From there, we assess the gel coat condition to determine the right compound and pad combination for your specific boat.
- Stage 1: Compound correction, We use a rotary or dual-action polisher with a cutting compound to remove the oxidized gel coat layer. This is where the actual restoration happens.
- Stage 2: Fine polish, A finishing polish removes any compound haze and brings out a deep, wet-look gloss.
- Stage 3: Sealant application, We apply a marine-grade UV protectant sealant that shields the freshly corrected gel coat from salt, sun, and environmental fallout.
The entire process is done by hand assessment and machine execution. No shortcuts, no spray-on products pretending to remove oxidation.
Buff and Shine vs Full Restoration
The difference comes down to how deep the damage goes. Buff and Shine corrects the top layer of oxidation using compound and polish. Full Restoration starts with wet sanding to remove a deeper layer of damaged gel coat before compounding and polishing.
If you can run your hand across the hull and it feels smooth but looks dull or faded, Buff and Shine is the right service. If the surface feels rough, chalky, or gritty, you likely need Full Restoration. We will always be honest about which service your boat actually needs.
Why Tampa Bay Boats Need This Service
Florida sun, Gulf salt air, and warm water create the perfect conditions for gel coat deterioration. Boats stored at marinas, on lifts, or even on trailers in driveways oxidize faster here than almost anywhere else in the country. Regular Buff and Shine service, typically once or twice a year depending on storage conditions, keeps your gel coat protected and looking sharp without the cost of a full restoration every time.
We service boats from Clearwater to Ruskin, St. Pete Beach to Tarpon Springs, and everywhere in between. Our mobile setup means we come to your dock, driveway, or marina slip with everything we need.
Pricing
Buff and Shine is priced at $80 per foot for the full hull (both sides plus transom). Topside-only service is available at $50 per foot for boats that primarily need above-waterline correction. Contact us for a free estimate based on your boat’s size and condition.
